St. Paul, Minn. (Feb. 3, 2014) – HealthEast Care System announced that two national health care leaders joined the organization’s Board of Directors in January. Joining HealthEast Board of Directors are Howard Kern of Sentara Healthcare from Virginia Beach, Virginia and Wayne Sensor of Ensocare from Omaha, Nebraska.

Wayne Sensor is Chief Executive Officer with Ensocare, which offers a software solution to streamline the transition and coordination of care, to help hospitals achieve their strategic priorities of reducing readmissions and coordinating post-acute care. He’s recognized by government, political and industry leaders for achievements in quality, transparency, consumer engagement and health and wellness, as well as a trusted resource on healthcare reform. He previously held positions Partner and Managing Director with Leavitt from 2011 to 2013 in Salt Lake City, Utah; Founder/CEO at Transformational Leadership Services in Omaha, Nebraska from 2009 to 2011; and former President and Chief Executive Officer with Alegent Health in Omaha, Nebraska from 2004 to 2009.
Howard Kern, FACHE, has served as President/Chief Operating Officer with Sentara Healthcare since 2003. At Sentara Healthcare, he has championed the organization’s award-winning clinical quality and patient safety initiative resulting in best practice outcomes in clinical quality and safety performance. He provided system clinical integration leadership for strategic transformation of care initiative; implemented regional growth strategy to position Sentara provider and health plan services statewide in Virginia; and led Sentara to eight successive record years in financial and market share performance. Previously, he held positions at Sentara Healthcare as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer from 1998 to 2003; Senior Vice President from 1995 to 1998 and Chief Executive Officer at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
